Habsburg Hunting Lodge

The manor once stood among the forests of the Silesian Beskids, and it was moved to Wisła only in 1986. The manor was erected on the Przysłop clearing in 1898 by Archduke Friedrich of Habsburg. It often hosted crowned heads who enjoyed shooting beautiful birds – capercaillies.

For centuries, hunting was a privileged activity of kings, princes, aristocracy, and nobility. The forests of the Silesian and Żywiec Beskids were favored by representatives of various lines of the Habsburg dynasty. The Przysłop clearing, located on the southern arm of Barania Góra, was considered the most convenient place where esteemed hunters could stay. After World War I, the manor (from 1925) served as a mountain shelter. Fortunately, it survived the war and hosted tourists until the 1970s. In 1986, the manor was moved to Wisła on Lipowa Street, where since October 3, 1987, it houses the Wisła Branch of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society, the Tourist Service Office operating at PTTK, the exhibition "Capercaillie in the forests of the Silesian Beskids," and the escape room "Castle of Riddles." The facility is located on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesian Voivodeship and the Habsburg Trail.
